Magic Clinch Top Seed in the East

Osceola, FL— In tonight’s regular-season finale the Osceola Magic took down the Birmingham Squadrons 124-109, wrapping up the season with a record of 22-12 and securing the number one seed in the East.

“I mean we got our eyes on the championship,” Dylan Murphy on the team’s mindset heading into the postseason. “We got unfinished business from last year — However you have to ugly, you win pretty, defend, you score whatever it takes every night.”

Mac McClung Leads the Magic

After scoring a franchise record 46 points last night, Mac McClung followed it up with another strong performance finishing the night with 26 points, four rebounds, and shot 8-of-18 (44.4%) from the floor while knocking down four shots from behind the arch.

“Mac’s a great player obviously, and he shows up in big moments and I think the biggest thing for him is that he’s bringing everybody along with him,” Dylan Murphy on McClung. “Like Coach Mose [Jamahl Mosley] always says, you know, by committee.”

Osceola’s Role Players Step Up

Following the completion of two 10-day contracts with the Toronto Raptors, Colin Castleton rejoined the Osceola Magic this evening, and his fingerprints were all over this game. Castleton finished the night with a double-double as he recorded 20 points, and 13 rebounds, including nine of those on the offensive glass, and dished out seven assists.

“He played big minutes in Toronto so we felt good about [his] conditioning,” Murphy on Castleton. “But obviously a new system in Toronto then has to come back to us, just getting refreshed with everything we’re doing. Being able to get out there with our guys. Collin’s really a professional.”

Osceola saw seven players score in double-figures from Mac McClung (26 points), Collin Castleton (20 points), Alex Morales (18 points), Ethan Thompson (17 points), Myron Gardner (13 points), Javonte Smart (10 points), and Jarret Culver (12 points).

“Our ability to come together and then whoever’s got it going — It’s how we are. It’s truly how we are. We have different guys finishing the game every night. I would joke with my coaching staff like it’s impossible to figure out which five to put on the floor because we’ve got eight guys playing well, but you know, proud of our group.”

The Osceola Magic will have the next five days off as they get prepared for the NBA G-League Playoffs and will have their eyes on making a deep postseason run.
